Well I’m currently sitting in the cafeteria of Emily Carr University. Pretty chill, they’ve got some nice music playing. I don’t want to complain about Monday blues or anything but damn, my classes end at 1900 hours today, pretty late. Not to mention I have to commute back home for about an hour and a half.

Anyway, not much is going on. I’m sorting out a couple of things. For one, aside from school, my highest priority now is Gaming Union. I’ve been slacking in regards to putting up news stories. Haven’t been putting up as many as I used to. It’s pretty difficult posting stuff on a netbook that takes 5 minutes to boot up.

On the bright side, at least I can still report on things while I’m at school. I just put up two stories on good old Bobby Kotick, CEO of Activision. It seems he’s the person to hate nowadays. He lashed out at EA as well as saying he felt betrayed by West and Zampella, the former heads of Infinity Ward, the developer studio behind the popular Call of Duty franchise. Gonna continue posting up stuff during my breaks.

Hm what else can I babble on about? The Final Fantasy Union podcasts have been a blast. I never was the chatterbox before but hanging out with Darryl, Lauren and Chloe has been really fun. The last episode we recorded was pretty darn random, lots of strange things going on. My mic botched up as well and you can tell part way through where I start to sound like the Terminator.

Speaking of podcasts, Lauren and Darryl have started up a mini video podcast called Let’s Play Again! They’ll be going through what’s good and bad on the Sega Genesis in alphabetical order, kicking it off with 3 Ninja’s Kick Back. I did the logo, which is just a pixelized Sega Genesis controller. I’ll be working on a number of other logos for Gaming Union as well. Not to mention we have quite a big surprise coming up, I’ll go into detail when I’m allowed to, but let’s just say that we’re really looking forward to finally revealing it.

In other news, I’m saving up for a Sager NP2180 laptop. It’s got a 15″ screen with 1080p resolution. That’s pretty high pixel density. Gonna customize it with an i7-740QM and maybe 6GB of RAM. The total comes up to roughly 1200 bucks. A lot cheaper than a new or refurbished Macbook Pro and definitely more bang for buck.

Kagamiku's First Day Out
Went out for lunch yesterday and headed out to Fort Langley for some Fish and Chips. Decided to bring lil’ Kagamiku along just for laughs. It’s her first time out of the house and I was so scared she’d break in my pocket. I should invest in containers so I can easily keep all of the spare parts as well as for safe transport.

The Kohbens Desktop Look

Well I’ve finally gotten about to changing/cleaning up my desktop. I ran into The Kobhens icon set yesterday and decided to try them out, neat thing is that it comes with the PSD file so I can make my own icons for apps that don’t have ‘em, like Tweetie.

For those of you who are interested, The Kobhens icon set can be found over at robertourso.com. I’m also using Glass Dock by Materia-Ring and the wallpaper and Bowtie skin (Minimal) can be found at Iconpaper.org.

Most probably don’t know this, but I’m secretly a senior ninja artist over at Mango Drop Games. I’m responsible for a number of event art and in-game background illustrations. Mango’s just dropped a sneak peak at one of the stages of Zenith Chronicles – harhar, see what I did there? Zenith’s a side scrolling shooter bullet-hell type of game with a pretty epic storyline (over seven endings!) and I’m pretty excited to be part of the development team.

Here’s another video, this time with the Gates of the Dead – which was pretty amusing to draw.

Anyways, enjoy the preview, hope you guys like it and be sure to keep your eyes on it! I’ll try and put up some of the promo art I’ve done for the game as well.

Fishing

More from Taiwan! So the second day took us to the place where the Queen’s Head is located, as well as Ocean World. It was quite entertaining, so many tourists were queuing up just to take a photo with the Queen’s Head and they even got into heated arguments. Lovely shite. The Ocean World performance was quite lacklustre, but still entertaining nonetheless. After lunch, the tour guide then led us to an antique town build on top of a hill. Plenty of shopping to be done there.

More photos after the jump.

A Taiwanese palace whose name totally eludes me

Well the trip to Taiwan was pretty exciting! The first 2 weeks and a bit were spent in a certain somewhere doing a certain something which cannot be disclosed to the public so feel free to let your imaginations run wild! Perhaps it was crabbing, maybe tight-rope walking or even launching a super secret battleship into the fabrics of the space time continuum!…

Ok no, none of that happened, I assure you it was a lot more mundane in comparison to the battleship thing but definitely more fun than crabbing…to a degree. The first bit was rather boring and involved more than enough sleep during the day, maybe too much. But the last few days were exciting and super fun, lots of laughs and adrenaline involved.

Read on for more lovely photos of Taiwan
